Come and enjoy A Broadway Lullaby, an evening event featuring a film, a Q&A with Tony Award-winning composer Rupert Holmes and a live music performances by Kate Dawson and Broadway’s wonderful Laura Osnes on Monday, September 29 at 7:30. Read all about Rupert Holmes involvement with and inspiration for the Broadway Lullaby Project, as well as our Septmeber 29 event, in this Journal News article.
The program is about Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project, which gathered many of today’s top musical composers and vocalists, as well as illustrators, all of whom have donated their talent to deliver an emotionally affecting set of new lullabies, some written specifically for this project, to raise funds to combat breast cancer. The film, by Peabody Award-winning documentarian Barbara Rick, tells the story of that project from conception to completion, chronicling the rehearsals and recording sessions of many of Broadway’s brightest stars, including Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, and Vanessa Williams.
Q&A: filmmaker Barbara Rick, Rupert Holmes, and award-winning music producer Matt Pierson with JBFC Executive Director Edie Demas.
Live Performances: Laura Osnes, who was nominated for a Tony Award for starring in the title role of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway, will sing “I Love You”. Kate Dawson, co-creator of Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project, will sing “Lullaby for Midnight” written by Rupert Holmes.
Over the Moon book and CD on sale after the screening. All proceeds serve women with breast cancer, their families, and research for a cure.
