Oh, it must be Sounds of Summer, our electric and eclectic music documentaries series returning to the Burns July 10-Aug. 28. No matter what type of music turns you on, we’ve got it covered…plus 3 live performances! And now, to mention just a couple…
Are you an opera lover? Then you won’t want to miss Becoming Traviata on July 11th at 7:30. Zeroing in on the dynamics between the world-famous soprano Natalie Dessay and the director Jean-Francois Sivadier, this vibrant film reveals how two great creative minds build the story of a doomed love affair.
If folk music is your beat, an amazing evening awaits you on July 23rd at 7:30. First, we are screening the folk-roc doc Sing Me the Songs That Say I Love You: A Concert for Kate McGarrigle, an all-star musical tribute to the legendary Canadian folk singer/songwriter who died in 2010. McGarrigle’s famous musical family turns tragedy into celebration with a little help from their friends, including folk greats Norah Jones and Emmylou Harris.
And that’s still not all…Sloan Wainwright, accompanied by guitarist Stephen Murphy, will entertain us with a LIVE PERFORMANCE!
Watch the video below to listen to their wonderful sound.
