At the Burns we pride ourselves in being both an independent theater and an arts education center. One of the cornerstones of our education programming is See Hear Feel Film (SHFF), which teaches third grade students active viewing skills and techniques of telling a story through film. Students watch short films from around the world to spur their creativity, then learn to write with clarity and confidence, improve their storytelling skills, and become keener observers of the world around them. The best part is, all this learning is disguised as a fun, movie-going experience!
Since 2001 when we began SHFF, it has grown and spread to other film centers around the country. Take a look at the gallery of stories written by students during a SHFF class and check out this article on the far-reaching effects of our third grade program.
