This 1946 holiday classic, a film that seems destined to live forever (and director Frank Capra’s favorite) is back at the Burns by popular demand. In fact, since it has been a sell-out in years past (nothing beats seeing it on the big screen!), this year we will be offering 9 screenings in the days leading up to Christmas, starting at noon on Saturday, December 20.
As we all know, this story is basically a gripping morality tale about what’s important in life. It celebrates small-town life and that great everyman hero George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) who famously starts out wanting to see the world, but never gets beyond the town he grew up in. “Yet what irony that all these years later, the world has come to see him instead, over and over again.” (2paragraphs)
Oh yes, and let’s not forget, it’s about how angels get their wings. And who can resist a movie at this time of year that is full of hope, love and angels?
It’s a Wonderful Life screens at the Burns December 20-21, 25-28 at 12:00 pm and December 22-24 at 3:00 pm. Tickets for all screenings are on sale now.
